the secret to total happiness

Living in the Philippines is total terror. How do you find happiness in this country where all the absurd things (things you would think they only occur in the movies) are actually happening at full blast, without any sort of control or regulation from any organized body or whatsoever.

So how do you find the key to happiness? Where is that little semblance of order from the daily chaos of traffic, corruption, censorship, tyranny and murder.

When I was young, I used to blame it all on the government. True, 98% of public officials are corrupt. I've been an activist, blaming the government because i feel its not doing its job. the revolution for a better society is a big sacrifice. you practically lose your sense of individuality in embracing a cause so big (changing the society, redistributing the wealth of the country).

this self-sacrifice, most of the time, leads to depression.

activist days are long gone. problem is still here. the cancer is still growing.

feeling of hopelessness against some sort of gigantic problem that seems to have no logical solution. again, even though my activist days are over, i still blame the government (just look at how all these generals, politicians, crooks in suits amass millions of taxpayers' money and stash them on their offshore accounts) for all the misery that plagued this country for so long.

now i know i was wrong.

by simply existing in my own little world, contemplating the fate of 80 million filipinos, i finally found out what the hell is really going on.

and learning that truth is a very happy experience.

the truth is this: the philippine government is a fucking genius. someone should have told me that shit earlier.
